Selling on EBay: Can it really turn into a PROFITABLE Business? How to?

I am just wondering if and how it is possible with, from selling casually in EBay turning into a PROFITABLE business..

Any advice or comments?

Well, you definately can earn, but its the continuity that I think is that will be an issue.

Because products sold on eBay are usually physical, and must be shipped to the customer. The process of filling orders is simple, but gets increasingly tough as volume picks up.

Other than that and marketing, it should be fine.

I sell fashionable accesories in ebay. Profitable because no overheads.

But I have to store my stuff upfront so it takes up space.
I tend to look for stuff that are light and easy to mail.

I started off with selling USED stuff on yahoo online auction; it closed down beginning this year - so I shifted everything to ebay. Ebay is free. But I decided to pay S$5/month for keeping online store. I do have sales in the beginning months but recently things are moving very slowly due to financial crisis.......

I buy the stuff during my travelling trips - so save on freight cost Smile

So far, what are the challenges in EBay and how to increase the business there?

I heard of TeraPeak and some other supporting platforms..
I wonder if there is anything else to up the EBay sales..

I am also interested in starting a ebay biz. If anyone can advise us, will be great.
