The brands... Fox, Baleno, Bosinni, Gap, Fox, G2000, Giordarno, Espirit.

We all know they came from a far off foreign country, or from Hong Kong, in the case of Giordarno. But who brought them in? Did they come here themselves? Or did somebody pay a franchising fee? (Paid Mentor Scheme as BenJenJon would put it)

Well well well. It's time the shopaholic replied. The long awaited Great Singapore Sale is around the corner. This is what I know:

Espirit came from Hong Kong too.

Brands like Fox, Topman, Topshop, Adidas, Miss Selfrigde, Dorothy Perkins, Diva and Warehouse were brought in by Wing Tai Asia.

Wing Tai Holdings also deals with commercial and industrial properties. Stuff like Guess Marciano, La Senza (the lingerie chain), Banana Republic, Gap and Raoul are part of FJ Benjamin.

Whoa, I haven't even heard of some of those brands in there.

This Wing Tai Asia, I'm assuming that they are the franchisee. They paid the original company the absolute rights to bring and distribute the clothes in Singapore. Correct?

They must have a lot of money to bring in that many brands.

Whoa. How did they get so big in the first place? Which was their first line of clothes/branded clothes?

Does anyone know how these companies started? A success stories if you will. I'm guessing they were small companies with their own line of clothes and grew after years, or decades.
